About shins, is it correct that tall rowers always not go to vertical, but shorter do?

I started rowing the singlesculler 2008 (at age of 34) and haven’t been coached. My primary goal was to be able to row with the oars off from water. That took about 3 – 4 years.
Then I want to get rid of any obvious faults. Like the shoulders. But I had no idea how.
