Always interesting to get numbers. My choice of what you call softness (I don’t know the terms, I would call it gearing, but I know the type of blade is a factor) leads to oars shorter than 180 cm.
About shins, is it correct that tall rowers always not go to vertical, but shorter do?

Yes, that would be very interesting!
I started rowing the singlesculler 2008 (at age of 34) and haven’t been coached. My primary goal was to be able to row with the oars off from water. That took about 3 – 4 years.
Then I want to get rid of any obvious faults. Like the shoulders. But I had no idea how.

I liked your visualization when doing wrong. The shoulders went up directly.
But what’s the issue with my shoulders? At six seconds into the attached video.

A little coaching one year ago. They’re saying “better” in the other (sunny) one. But I don’t remember what I changed 🙂 Perhaps something with my shoulders?
